Alice Yates -- Stewartville

STEWARTVILLE -- The funeral for Alice Yates will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, with the Rev. John Kester officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Pleasant Grove in the spring.

Miss Yates, 91, of Olmsted County Road 116 Southeast, Stewartville, formerly of Austin, died Thursday (Jan. 18, 2001) at Stewartville Care Center, where she had lived two weeks

Born Oct. 20, 1909, in Pleasant Grove Township, Olmsted County, she grew up on the family farm, attended area rural schools, and graduated from Chatfield High School and Chatfield Normal School. From 1932 to 1952, she was a nanny for her sister's family in Austin and then returned to the family farm in Pleasant Grove, where she had lived since. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ and the Pleasant Time Club.

Survivors include two brothers, Maurice "Mike" of Pleasant Grove and Robert of Rosemount, Minn. A brother and a sister preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church.

Griffin Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. She was born in October, 1909. She was the daughter of Vernon YATES and Mildrid Alice BAKER.
