The funeral for Doris Bacon will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Fountain United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Strunk officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Bacon, 92, a longtime Rochester homemaker and formerly of Fountain, died early Tuesday morning (April 25, 1995) at Samaritan Bethany Heights.
Doris Winslow was born Nov. 23, 1902, in Fountain. On April 17, 1929, she married Clayton Bacon in Wykoff and they lived in the Fountain area until moving to Rochester in 1954. Mrs. Bacon was a longtime employee of Hollands Cafeteria here. She and her husband had resided at Samaraitan Bethany Heights since 1991. She was a member of Fountain United Methodist Church and its ladies aid.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Darrell of Wabasha, Duaine of Rochester and Gerald ``Jerry'' of Lakeville, Minn; a daughter, Joyce Brown of Rochester; 13 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, a great-grandson and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston and an hour before the service Friday at the church. Mrs. Stennes, 88, of Mabel, formerly of Fillmore and Preston, died Friday (Jan. 9, 2004) at Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.
She was born Elizabeth Clare Winslow on Oct. 29, 1915, in Spring Valley. She attended school in Fountain and Chatfield, and graduated from Rochester High School in 1936.
On July 17, 1937, she married Mick (Laurence) McNeir at her parents' home. The couple bought a house in 1942 in Fillmore. They raised their three children there and lived there until 1968, when they moved to Preston.
Her husband died in 1973. Elizabeth continued living in Preston, where she volunteered at a church and a nursing home. She also volunteered at Fillmore County Historical Society Museum in Fountain. In 1995, she moved to Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.
In 1996, she married Earl Stennes, who died two years later. She was a member of Scheie Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Stennes is survived by two sons, Leon (Vikki) McNeir and Dennis (Robin) McNeir; a daughter, Beverly (Willis) Tordsen; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be at the church starting an hour before the service Monday. Arrangements were made by Mengis Funeral Home, Mabel. Mr. Winslow, 84, of rural Fountain, a lifelong area farmer, died Monday (June 16, 2003) at his home.
He was born March 2, 1919, in Spring Valley. On Jan. 23, 1942, he married Alice May Riddle at Methodist Church in Wykoff. Mr. Winslow farmed on the home farm for more than 60 years, including with his son Scott for many years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth (Linda) and Scott (Jean), both of Fountain; four daughters, Joanne Kappler of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., Paula (Percy) Bessingpas of Stewartville, Connie Walker of Chatfield and Jean (Gary) Scheevel of Preston; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth McNeir Stennes of Mabel. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, three brothers and a sister.

SPRING VALLEY -- The funeral for Hazel Buchholtz will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Sumner Center United Methodist Church in rural Racine with the Rev. Jean Dumas officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery.
Mrs. Buchholz, 94, of Spring Valley, died Thursday (Feb. 10, 1994) at Spring Valley Community Memorial Nursing Home, where she had lived since May, 1992.
Hazel Winslow was born May 16, 1899 in rural Fountain. She married Rinehart Buchholtz on Nov. 21, 1917 in Preston. The couple lived in rural Fountain until 1919 when they moved to the Spring Valley area. They lived on several farms until moving to Sumner Township in 1921.
Mr. Buchholtz died in 1968. In 1987, Mrs. Buchholtz moved to the Hillside Apartments in Spring Valley where she remained until entering the nursing home.
She was a member of the Sumner Center United Methodist Church and its womens groups. She also was active in the Science Hill Birthday Club.
Surviving are two sons, Lyle of Stewartville and Leonard of Spring Valley; a daughter, Donna Mae (Mrs. Marion) Gill of Perham, Minn; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris (Mrs. Clayton) Bacon of Rochester. She was preceded in death by a daughter, three sons, three grandsons and a sister.
Friends may call at the Thauwald Funeral Home in Spring Valley from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and then at the church Monday one hour before the service. She was born on May 16, 1899 at Spring Valley, Fillmore County, Minnesota, United States of America. She was the daughter of Amos R. WINSLOW. Hazel Gertrude WINSLOW married Rinehart BUCHHOLTZ, son of Albert BUCHHOLTZ and Augusta KLUG, in 1917.

Hazel Winslow was born May 16, 1899 in rural Fountain. She married Rinehart Buchholtz on Nov. 21, 1917 in Preston. The couple lived in rural Fountain until 1919 when they moved to the Spring Valley area. They lived on several farms until moving to Sumner Township in 1921.
Mr. Buchholtz died in 1968. In 1987, Mrs. Buchholtz moved to the Hillside Apartments in Spring Valley where she remained until entering the nursing home.
She was a member of the Sumner Center United Methodist Church and its womens groups. She also was active in the Science Hill Birthday Club.
Surviving are two sons, Lyle of Stewartville and Leonard of Spring Valley; a daughter, Donna Mae (Mrs. Marion) Gill of Perham, Minn; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris (Mrs. Clayton) Bacon of Rochester. She was preceded in death by a daughter, three sons, three grandsons and a sister.
Friends may call at the Thauwald Funeral Home in Spring Valley from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and then at the church Monday one hour before the service. She was born on May 16, 1899 at Spring Valley, Fillmore County, Minnesota, United States of America. She was the daughter of Amos R. WINSLOW. Hazel Gertrude WINSLOW married Rinehart BUCHHOLTZ, son of Albert BUCHHOLTZ and Augusta KLUG, in 1917.

Henry Allen WINSLOW married Viola Francelia HUNGERFORD, daughter of G.B. HUNGERFORD and Amanda WILSON. Henry Allen WINSLOW died before November 25, 1922.
