- Norbert W. Baker -- Chatfield CHATFIELD -- The funeral for Norbert W. Baker will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield with the Rev. Dennis Cox-Townsend of Chatfield United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Mr. Baker, 77, of Chatfield, a former farmer and farm laborer, died Wednesday (March 17, 1999) at Olmsted Community Hospital in Rochester where he had been a patient five days. Born Nov. 26, 1921, in rural Chatfield, he grew up there and served in the Army during World War II. He worked on a local farm and then lived in California for six years before returning to Chatfield. He was a farmer and farm laborer for 24 years before entering Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield 15 years ago. Survivors include four brothers, Jon of Bloomington, Minn., Gordon of Gilbert, Minn., Boyd of Chatfield and Morris of Pacific Grove, Calif; and a sister, Evelyn (Mrs. C.W.) Krull of Grand Meadow. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Friends may call an hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home. He was born on November 26, 1921. He was the son of William Henry BAKER and Alice Evelyn HANLEY.
