Francis `Bud' Toogood funeral Tuesday

STEWARTVILLE -- The funeral for Francis T. ``Bud'' Toogood will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Pleasant Grove, with the Rev. John Kester officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.

Mr. Toogood, 84, of 709 Fifth Ave. S.E., died Saturday morning (Nov. 4, 1995) at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield due to complications of a stroke. He had been ill about one month.

He was born Oct. 25, 1911, in Pleasant Grove Township, Olmsted County. He grew up on the family farm and attended Pleasant Grove District School. After his schooling, he worked on the family farm until he married Eileen Klomps on March 23, 1938, at Church Parsonage in Pleasant Grove. The couple farmed in rural Spring Valley until 1947 when they moved to a farm in rural Pleasant Grove. In 1983, they moved to Stewartville, where they have resided since. Mrs. Toogood was a homemaker. He was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Darlene (Mrs. John) Welch of rural Stewartville and Carolyn (Mrs. Curtis) Wicks of Woodbury; two sons, Jerry and Paul Toogood, both of Stewartville; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Berg of Rochester and Bernice Bigelow of rural Stewartville. He was preceded in death by an infant son, two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and until noon on Tuesday at Griffin Funeral Home in Stewartville. Friends may also call one hour before services at the church. He was born in 1911. He married Eileen KLOMPS, daughter of Henry John KLOMPS and Bessie HEBRINK, on March 23, 1938.
