Clayton G. Bacon -- Rochester

The funeral for Clayton G. Bacon will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fountain United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Kandels officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Bacon, 90, of Rochester, formerly of Fountain, died Friday evening (March 6, 1998) at Saint Marys Hospital.

He was born June 4, 1907, in Waubay, S.D., and moved to Fountain with his family. On April 17, 1929, he married Doris Winslow in Wykoff and they lived in in the Fountain area until moving to Rochester in 1954. Mr. Bacon hauled cream, was in the trucking business and drove school bus in the Fountain area, and after moving to Rochester was employed at Mayo Clinic until his retirement in 1977. The couple became residents of Samaritan Bethany Heights in 1991. His wife died April 25, 1995. Mr. Bacon was a member of Fountain United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Darrell of Wabasha, Duaine of Fountain and Gerald ``Jerry'' of Lakeville, Minn; a daughter, Joyce (Mrs. Francis) Wieseler of Rochester; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Sandefur of Frenchtown, Mont. He was preceded in death by a grandson, a great-grandson and four brothers.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston and an hour before the service Tuesday at the church. He married Doris WINSLOW, daughter of Amos R. WINSLOW, in 1929.
