Allene L. Doherty, 68, of Preston dies

PRESTON -- Allene L. Doherty, 68, of Preston died todayThursday (Sept. 8, 1994) at Preston Good Samaritan Care Center here.

She was born Dec. 12, 1925, in Fountain Township and grew up on the family farm. She graduated from Wykoff High School in 1943. She married Cletus E. Doherty on Dec. 1, 1943, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fountain. They farmed in Fountain Township most of their married life. After retiring, they moved to Preston in 1977. She was a member of St. Columban's Catholic Church and Altar Society here. She also was an organizer of the Carimona Cruiser's 4-H Club and was an assistant club leader.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Duane of Racine and James of Spring Valley; two daughters, Sandra (Mrs. William) Luce of Wykoff and Rita (Mrs. Cliff) Sackett of Preston; 12 grandchildren and two sisters, Evelyn (Mrs. Morton) Jones of Chatfield and Erma (Mrs. Alvin) Shaw of Wykoff. A brother and three grandchildren preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Columban's Catholic Church in Preston, with the Rev. Frances Galles officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Preston.

Friends may call between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday at Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston and one hour before the service at the church Saturday. A vigil prayer service will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
