John Matheny was born in New Castle, Ohio July 13, 1851. He came to Chatfield, Minn. with hi s parents in 1855, where he grew to manhood.      On December 23, 1896 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Julia Norske, and to this union two c hildren were born, Mrs. Lucy Hagen, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Henry at home in Dodge Center, Mi nn. Within the past year he became a member of the Methodist Church of this place. He died Th ursday morning, August 14, 1924, after a brief illness. His age was 73 years, 1 month and 1 d ay.      He leaves his wife, two children, Mrs. Hagen, and Henry, besides three step children, Mrs. E verett Ramey of Canada, Mr. Rudolf Norske, of Washington, and Mrs. Curtis Cady of Eyota, Minn ., also sisters, brothers, and other relatives and friends.      Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Methodist Church by Rev. C.D. Moore, and bur ial was at the Riverside Cemetery.

Card of Thanks - We Wish to thank our many friends and neghbors who so kindly assisted us du ring the sickness and death of our loving husband and father. Also for the beautiful floral o fferings and we also thank the choir for their hymns. Mrs. John Matheny and Children. He was buried after August 14, 1924 at Riverside Cemetery, Dodge Center, Dodge County, Minnesota, United States of America.
