Gerald E. Leibold, 80, passed away Friday, January 5, 2007 at Mercy Hospital. Jerry's family was with him at the time of his death.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, at McLaren's Chapel with private inurnment at Resthaven Mausoleum.

The son of Merle and Mildred (Nutting) Leibold, Jerry was born in Des Moines on May 4, 1926. He was an alumnus of Roosevelt High School and Drake University. Jerry married Beverly Ruth Zingler on September 3, 1949, and they had two sons, Gerald Jr. and Charles.

Jerry was a career employee of the Des Moines Water Works. He retired in 1991 as chief financial officer. During his career he was active in the American Water Works Association. He enjoyed travel and British sports cars. He was a charter member of the Mississippi Valley Region of the Sports Car Club of America. Jerry served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; his parents and his brother, Robert. He is survived by his son, Charles and his wife Karen of Clive; son, Gerald Jr. and his wife, Jean of Murray, IA; granddaughters, Jessica, Alys.
