Ralph E. Ellis, a former resident of Chatfield, died at his home in Troutdale, Ore., on March 5th, of a heart attack.
Mr. Ellis was born on Aug. 12, 1911, in Chatfield. He was married to the former Edosiah Clark of Rochester. She survives. Other survivors are his mother, Mrs. John Ellis, and two brothers, Arthur and Frederick, all of Chatfield, and a sister, Mrs. Henry (Marjorie) Hockema of Spring Valley.
Services were conducted on March 9th at the Akeson Funeral Home, by the Rev. Stuart Joransen of the United Methodist Church of Stewartville. Burial was in the Stone Church Cemetary.
Pallbearers were Rex Harwood, Harold King, Gordon Sutherland, Andy Hermanson, Lloyd Glynn and Frank Kruger. He was buried on March 9, 1970 at Old Stone Church Cemetary, Sumner Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota, United States of America.

CHATFIELD -- Richard A. Ellis, 63, formerly of the Stewartville and Chatfield areas, died Saturday (Aug. 25, 2007) at his home near Park Rapids, Minn.

Richard Alden Ellis was born April 14, 1944, in Stewartville, and grew up on the Ellis family farm near Chatfield. As a young man he loved to dance, and also sang and played guitar at folk concerts at churches and colleges. He tried a variety of professions, from clothing salesman to volunteer deputy, but the one that held him the longest was trucking. On the road he saw most of the United States. He retired to the family's dome house near Park Rapids, and liked watching TV, listening to music and visiting. He especially enjoyed sharing stories.

He is survived by his wife, Faye; two daughters, Hetti (Randy) Williams and Gretchen (Judd) Jensen; a sister, Mary Devine; and a brother, Danny (Christine). Other survivors include a granddaughter, Emily Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen (Lowrie) Ellis; a brother, James; and a sister, Suzanne.

A coffee and dessert gathering was held Aug. 29 at Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids.

Cease Funeral Home of Park Rapids assisted the family with arrangements.

She was the daughter of John ELLIS and Anna GILL. Ruth Gill ELLIS married William LEIBOLD, son of John Joseph LEIBOLD and Josephine Victoria KUISLE, in 1905 at Stone Church, Sumner Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota, United States of America. Ruth Gill ELLIS died on August 12, 1946 at Spring Valley, Fillmore County, Minnesota, United States of America, at age 66. She was buried on August 16, 1946 at Spring Valley, Fillmore County, Minnesota, United States of America.
